  • Dr. Dan Egli in collaboration with Jenna Johnston, M.S. and Trevor Egli has updated the "Antidepressant Overview" article which includes a reference card that summarize medication names, typical adult doses, anticholinergic and sedating properties, and a table showing availability of liquid formulations. You will need Acrobat Reader to view these materials.

  • John L. Reeves II, PhD, MSCP, ABPP, and the members of the Division V Interim Board of Directors of the new CPA Division of Clinical Psychopharmacology (Division V) provide their paper, "Prescriptive Authority (RxP) Will Benefit All California Psychologists and the Patients We Serve"

  • "Pharmacotherapy In Generalized Anxiety Disorder," by Dan Egli, PhD, is now available. This article summarizes the author’s impressions (based on clinical experience, review of the literature, clinical supervision, and CE/CME) of current psychopharmacologic interventions used in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

  • Dr. John Courtney has once again provided us with a new article, "Thyroid disorders, depression and food: What psychologists should know."

  • Available as a free download, you very likely will want to check out the "Alphabetical checklist of dosages and uses of 100 common psychotropic medications," developed by Drs. Ed Zuckerman and Dan Egli. This pdf document (and many other very useful resources) are available at www.psychmeds.info. Once there, select the 'free downloads' link to get to the checklist of 100 medications (and of course take a look around the rest of the site while you're there).

  • Dr. John Courtney's article, "Current Controversies Regarding the Use of SSRIs with Children," in which he summarizes the relevant research, "black box warnings," and what these mean "...for the treating psychologist who cares for a young patient being administered an antidepressant." Thank you Dr. Courtney for this very important and timely article.

  • Article available: John Preston and Bruce Ebert. (1999). Psychologists' role in the discussion of psychotropic medication with clients: Legal and ethical considerations. California Psychologist, 34-35.

  • Doctoral Candidate Brian Ramirez's preliminary results of his survey of 500 licensed psychologists' attitudes toward prescriptive authority, and Dr. Wiggins's followup editorial commentary, are available in the ASAP Reader #123.
